8.2. EPANET Software – Modeling water supply networks.

The construction and solution of the system of equations that arise in the models (see link) is very easy with the use of appropriate software such as EPANET.

This program has a graphical interface for network formatting and data entry. It has the ability to simulate a time-varying situation and present the effects on the network of fluctuations in demand at nodes and changes in the level of reservoirs during the simulation. The solution of the hydraulic model is done in discrete time steps, usually one hour, while for the quality model in steps of five minutes. The results are presented in various forms, especially helpful in interpreting the results.
